FAA Bans UAV Operation Over 133 Military Facilities

Reuters  (4/7) reported that the FAA announced Friday that it has banned flights of nearly all UAVs over 133 US military facilities, effective April 14. The move “came as US officials and the country’s private sector worry about the possible use of dangerous or hostile drones.” The FAA previously banned UAVs from a 15-mile radius of Reagan National Airport, an area which includes the Pentagon and other US government facilities. The Wall Street Journal  (4/7) reports that the FAA said that the ban is designed “to address national security concerns,” although it did not provide details.
