FCC To Hold Workshop on 9-1-1 Apps

The FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau announced today that it plans to hold a workshop May 8 on mobile apps that can help people contact emergency services. “Topics addressed in the workshop will include: how existing apps are assisting in the provision of 911 service, how 911 network architecture affects requirements for app design and delivery, and future steps needed to encourage further development and integration of 911 apps into the broader 911 ecosystem (for example, location-based apps that could assist PSAPs in locating 911 callers),”
according to a public notice.
