The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau today solicited comments on
the current state of consumer signal boosters. In a public notice, the
bureau noted that in an order adopted in 2013 (TRDaily, Feb. 20, 2013),
the FCC directed the bureau to release a public notice by tomorrow
concerning “additional technologies that may enhance the
interference-mitigating features of signal boosters already required by
our rules.” In particular, the bureau said today that it is seeking
comments on the performance of new consumer signal boosters, if additional
safeguards are necessary, the effectiveness of a carrier consumer signal
booster registration system, and the effectiveness of the FCC’s
enforcement in the signal booster area. Comments are due March 30 and
replies April 14 in WT docket 10-4.
