Bill D’Agostino, FirstNet’s General Manager, has resigned his position with FirstNet. See http://firstnet.gov/news/firstnet-board-launch-nationwide-search-new-general-manager. This is a sad day for Public Safety and for FirstNet. Bill was the most dedicated individual I have had the pleasure of working with on this project. The press release says he resigned for personal and family reasons and we certainly wish him well wherever he ends up. Bill and all of the dedicated executives at FirstNet have had a rough four months. Their core base of contractors were all terminated in November and December and it was only a few weeks ago that the NTIA/DOC finally awarded replacement contracts. Rumor has it that this took so long most of the chosen contractors are no longer available.
This has put an enormous amount of pressure on the entire FirstNet team. I hope FirstNet will survive and move forward but since November it has lost a lot of dedicated people. Bill will be missed greatly I am sure. The loss of Bill and the contractors has really set FirstNet back.
