TA Reports on Mexican Rebanding Process

August 5, 2016–The 800 megahertz band transition administrator (TA) says that as of March 31, “all of the 127 FRAs [frequency reconfiguration agreements] anticipated for Mexican border licensees had been submitted to the TA.” In the TA’s most recent quarterly report filed yesterday in WT docket 02-55, it also said that Mexican border licensees and Sprint Corp. “had entered into 38 Letter Agreements, which are short-form agreements that have been used in lieu of FRAs for certain reconfigurations with no costs or low costs.” Overall, 98.1% of Mexican-border FRAs involving non-public-safety licensees had been approved, 50.9% of physical retunes were complete, and 17% of retunes had closed. For public safety licensees along the Mexican border, the respective percentages were 100%, 36.5%, and 12.2%, according to the TA’s report.
