CTIA invited parties to weigh in on the operation of the National Emergency Address Database (NEAD), which is required to implement 911 indoor location accuracy rules adopted by the FCC in January (TRDaily, Jan. 29). The NEAD LLC, an independent entity of CTIA, is inviting interested vendors to present their views on development of the NEAD, Tom Sawanobori, senior vice president and chief technology officer of CTIA, said in a blog posting.
“In order to develop a Request for Proposals to develop and operate the NEAD, vendor presentations will help the NEAD to understand how database and 9-1-1 communication systems experts view the NEAD,” Mr. Sawanobori said. “Interested parties may access details as to how to schedule presentation time with the NEAD Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) at the following link: http://www.911nead.org/indexLive.cfm,” the posting added. ”
Presentation times may be available between September 18 and October 2. After October 2, the NEAD will no longer accept vendor presentations. The identity of organizations presenting will be made public, and the presentation material will remain confidential to the NEAD.” There is a hope to release the NEAD RFP by the end of this year, Matt Gerst, director-regulatory affairs for CTIA, said recently (TRDaily, Aug. 20).- Paul Kirby, paul.kirby@wolterskluwer.com
