In the 5.9 GHz Public Notice to which NPSTC responded with Comments, the FCC also had asked companies to submit by July 30 any prototype unlicensed interference-avoiding devices and any prototype DSRC devices, both of which could be used in FCC testing of spectrum sharing in the 5.9 GHz band.  Today’s August 1 Daily Digest shows that on July 9, the FCC has granted short extensions to both Cisco and Qualcomm for equipment submissions.  Cisco now has until August 18.  Qualcomm now has until August 8.   Interestingly, Qualcomm will submit both unlicensed WiFi and DSRC devices.

THE OFFICE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY IS GRANTING THE REQUEST OF QUALCOMM INCORPORATED FOR A SHORT EXTENSION OF THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT DEVICES OPERATING IN THE 5.850-5.925 GHZ BANDS THAT DEMONSTRATE SHARING TECHNIQUES.   Qualcomm will provide to the Commission several prototype 802.11ac Wi-Fi devices that can operate in the 5.850-5.925 GHz band to be delivered on Aug. 1, 2016, and four Dedicated Short Range Communication devices no later than Aug. 8,2016.
