April 10, 2017–The FCC today announced the rechartering of the Communications Security, Reliability, and Interoperability Council (CSRIC) under the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) for two years, with an expected starting date in early summer.

Nominations for membership are due by April 24, and the FCC is particularly interested in nominees representing federal agencies or state, tribal, territorial and/or local government agencies and organizations with expertise in communications, public safety, emergency management and/or homeland security matters; communications providers of all types and their industry organizations; developers of mobile devices, new technologies, and apps and operating systems for mobile and desktop devices; entities representing enterprise and institution users of communications services; consumer or community organization; and other stakeholders and interested parties with relevant expertise.

The issues to be considered by the next CSRIC “may include, but are not limited to: (1) the reliability of communications systems and infrastructure; (2) 911, Enhanced 911 (E911), and Next Generation 911 (NG911); (3) emergency alerting; and (4) national security/emergency preparedness (NS/EP) communications,” the FCC said in a public notice released today.
