The National Emergency Number Association today praised the adoption by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) of the NENA i3 standard for next generation 911 (NG-911) deployment in Canada. “Canada’s adoption of the i3 Standard, which is also used in other nations, will help ensure wider interoperability of 9-1-1 networks, equipment, systems and devices across Canada, North America, and the world,” NENA said. “The CRTC’s decision will specifically facilitate trans-border collaboration between U.S. and Canadian public safety authorities, as they work together to save lives and protect property. NENA looks forward to working further with Canadian authorities as they implement the i3 Standard.”
