Senate Passes National Suicide Hotline Improvement Act

The Senate yesterday passed by unanimous consent H.R. 2345, the National Suicide Hotline Improvement Act, sponsored by Reps. Chris Stewart (R., Utah) and Eddie Bernice Johnson (D., Texas). The bill, which directs the FCC to study the feasibility of designating an N11 dialing code for a national suicide prevention and mental health crisis hotline system, passed the House last month on a 379-1 vote.

It cleared the House Energy and Commerce Committee last month.  H.R. 2345 passed the House on July 23, 2018 by a vote of 379-1 (TR Daily, July 24). It passed the Energy and Commerce Committee on July 12, 2018 by voice vote (TR Daily, July 12).
