WEA Test Set for Thursday in Washington Area

The first live regional test of the wireless emergency alert system (WEA) in the Washington area is scheduled to take place tomorrow from 10 to 11 a.m. The test will occur across 20 jurisdictions in the region. Last month, the FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau released an order granting a limited waiver of its WEA rules to permit wireless carriers to participate in the test (TR Daily, March 16).
