White House Telemedicine Event Participants to Report Back in Two Weeks

NTCA Chief Executive Officer Shirley Bloomfield told TRDaily today that telemedicine-focused discussions at a White House Rural Council event yesterday were promising, with discussions of “interesting pilot projects” including specially encrypted tablet for veterans to use for telemedicine meetings with Veterans Affairs Department psychologists.  Participants broke down into four groups in areas such as the VA or serving tribal areas, and will continue to work on their own, with a mandate to report back to the White House and the Agriculture Department in two week.  Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack told participants that there’s still time to get things done during this administration, and that the administration also wants to leave a glide path or transition document for its successor.
