While there is some Public Safety communications news this week, the U.S. Court of Appeals ruling on Net Neutrality is making most of the headlines. Some see this as a set-back for the FCC, and for the Internet while others see it in a different light. But I believe that in the end this ruling will be appealed to the Supreme Court so the issue will drag on for another few years.
In another piece of news not listed below, T-Mobile is its quest to gain an advantage in the 600 MHz (Incentive) auction, is now claiming that FirstNet and the Public Safety Broadband Network will be fully funded from the results of auctions being held in 2014 for the AWS-3 and other spectrum. They have taken this posture to continue their push to get the FCC to give smaller network operators a bidding advantage for the 100 MHz or more of 600 MHz spectrum which will, at this point, be auctioned in 2015.
